Hourly paycheck calculator
An hourly paycheck calculator multiplies your wage by hours worked and applies overtime when it applies. PayGuess is built around that workflow: rate, hours, overtime rule, then weekly (and annual-pace) gross before taxes.
Core formula
Regular hours × hourly rate + overtime hours × (rate × overtime multiplier). With a standard time-and-a-half rule after 40 hours, overtime hours are paid at 1.5×. Double time uses 2×. Some jobs have no overtime premium in the calculator sense — still verify eligibility with your employer or state rules.
Paycheck frequency still matters
Your wage is hourly, but deposits may be weekly, biweekly, or semimonthly. The calculator shows the week you enter; scale carefully when mapping to a longer pay period, and watch overtime week boundaries.
Multiple hourly jobs
If you work for more than one employer, overtime is generally figured separately for each. PayGuess lets you add jobs with their own rates and hours instead of blending everything into one rate.
Examples
- $18 × 40 hours = $720 weekly gross.
- $18 × 45 hours with 1.5× after 40 = $720 + ($18 × 1.5 × 5) = $855.
- $23 × 37 hours = $851.
Tips for accuracy
Use the hours on your timesheet for the workweek your employer uses. Include shift differentials only if you know the effective rate. For take-home, open the optional estimate and enter figures from a real stub — scanning stays on your device.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate an hourly paycheck with overtime?
Pay regular hours at your rate and overtime hours at the overtime rate (often 1.5× after 40 hours in a workweek).
Does PayGuess assume I am overtime-eligible?
No. You choose the overtime rule. Eligibility and legal requirements are up to your employer and applicable law.
Can I convert hourly pay to a yearly figure?
Yes — multiply weekly gross by your paid weeks per year (often 52), or use the hourly-to-annual calculator page.
What about tips or commissions?
Enter a blended effective hourly rate only if that matches how you want to model the week, or add extras where the tool allows.
