Paycheck calculator: see your take-home pay
Your paycheck stays on this device: your pay, taxes and paystub are never sent to PayGuess. Privacy
Enter your rate, weekly hours and overtime rule to estimate gross pay.
How to use
Enter your hourly rate, hours this week and overtime rule. Extra earnings and different rates are grouped by employer, so you can split hours between rates without entering them twice. Add another job for a separate employer. Yearly figures use 52 weeks unless you pick fewer in Weeks per year. Pick your state or upload a paystub at the top to see take-home next to gross pay.
Daily overtime rules apply with the “1.5× after 40 hours” overtime setting.
The weekly total fills in from these days. Daily entry covers hours at the first rate; hours at other rates count toward the weekly 40 only.
Sunday hours count last in the week and pay 2×. Premiums do not stack.

Paid for part of the year?
Count payments, not months worked. For example, monthly pay over a 10-month school year is 10 checks; the same salary spread over 12 months is 12. Use gross pay before taxes.
Extra earnings this week · optional
Tips, bonuses or other additional pay, before taxes. Annual salary is unchanged; extra weekly earnings are projected using your paid weeks.
Unit pay estimates completed units × your rate. Employee piece-rate overtime and other required pay are not calculated here; freelance tax tools apply to independent contractors only.

How this was calculated
Save this week
Week ending can be any day. Saturday is filled in by default.
Saved on this browser/device only. Changing today’s rate never rewrites older saved weeks — only an explicit save for that date updates it.
Saved pay history ↓When do you get paid? (optional)
Plan expected money received, separately from earnings. Enter the take-home amount you expect on each payday.
Your entered payment amount. No taxes are calculated here.
Expected dates and payments, not confirmed deposits. Weekends, bank holidays, seasonal breaks and payroll changes are not adjusted automatically. Calendar lasts for this visit and never changes saved earnings.
Compare two pay scenarios
Line up two options — different jobs, rates, or weeks from your saved history. Longer plans live under Saved weeks and plans.
Compare hourly, salary, or freelance side by side. Use the buttons below to snapshot what’s in the calculator, or fill in each option manually. Loading an option puts it back into the main calculator.
This comparison stays for this visit. Start over clears the calculator but keeps these two options until you clear them.

Files contain your saved earnings and plans. Keep them private. Import is reviewed before anything changes; no file is uploaded to a server.
Plans from the file are added up to the 12-period limit. Calculator inputs stay unchanged. Enable Remember my weeks before importing.
About your saved history
Save weeks as you go — across jobs and years. Missing weeks stay missing. Salary records are weekly equivalents, not paycheck deposits. Clearing browser data removes local history; download a backup to keep a copy.
Saved salary weeks use annual salary ÷ 52 plus that week’s extra pay and other jobs. They track a weekly earnings equivalent, not your actual paycheck deposit.
Compare jobs: open Compare two pay scenarios above, or filter this list by job name.
Totals use only weeks you saved. Filter by job or pay type, or choose All jobs for everything. Salary values are weekly equivalents, not deposits. Different pay types are totaled separately so overlapping weeks are not double-counted.
Enter a past week
Enter weekly earnings before taxes; client amounts are after costs. Use Load inputs and save again to correct calculator inputs. Direct total/hour edits become manual records without an input snapshot.
One entry per week ending and pay type; saving again updates it. Only weeks you explicitly save count. A saved $0 week counts; unsaved weeks never lower your average. Start date is your earliest saved week ending.
Plan a few months ahead (optional)
Build consecutive phases: for example, 7 months at one pay and 5 at another. Change the calculator before capturing the next phase, or enter a monthly estimate directly.
Estimates before taxes, assuming this pay continues. Remember my weeks saves plans on this device.
How this estimate works
Planning estimates, not saved earnings or guaranteed pay. Weekly pay uses 52 ÷ 12 weeks/month. Salary paycheck schedules use their usual frequency; custom schedules use a calendar average. Capturing includes all jobs currently entered and repeats current hours, extras and entered costs throughout the phase; annual working-week limits are not applied again. Include unpaid gaps as a separate $0 phase. Without Remember my weeks, plans last for this visit only.
Compare your options

How they are taxed: 457(b) and SIMPLE IRA lower federal income tax but not Social Security or Medicare. Dependent care FSA lowers both, up to $7,500 a year. Roth and other after-tax deductions do not lower any tax. State rules differ: Pennsylvania taxes 401(k), 403(b), 457(b) and SIMPLE IRA money. New Jersey taxes everything here except 401(k). California taxes HSA money and dependent care above $5,000 a year. 2026 limits: 401(k)/403(b)/457(b) $24,500 each plan type (plus $8,000 at 50 or older, $11,250 at ages 60 to 63), SIMPLE IRA $17,000, HSA $4,400 (self) or $8,750 (family), health FSA $3,400, dependent care FSA $7,500. Frequently asked questions
Is PayGuess free?
Yes. PayGuess is free to use and does not require an account.
Can it show my take-home pay?
Yes. The headline number is gross pay before taxes. Pick your state or upload a paystub to see take-home pay after federal, state and local taxes, worked out with the 2026 withholding rules for all 50 states and DC.
What is “your year at a glance”?
After you enter one paycheck, PayGuess maps out your year: earned so far, year-end pay and take-home, taxes, overtime share and averages by week and month. You can set a take-home goal and see how many extra hours or shifts would close the gap. It all stays in your browser.
How is overtime calculated?
With the time-and-a-half rule, hours over 40 in a workweek are paid at 1.5 times the regular rate. Overtime is figured separately for each week and each employer. You can also choose double time, a custom threshold and multiplier, or no overtime.
How is annual pay estimated?
Weekly gross pay is multiplied by your paid weeks per year, which defaults to 52. You can change it with Weeks per year, next to Pay period. Monthly pay is the annual figure divided by 12.
Where is my data stored?
Calculations run in your browser. If you choose to save weeks or preferences, they stay in this browser's local storage, and you can clear them with the Clear my saved data button.
