Biweekly paycheck calculator

Biweekly pay means you are paid every two weeks — typically 26 paychecks per year. A biweekly paycheck calculator helps you turn weekly hours or annual salary into the gross amount that often appears on that two-week stub.

Biweekly vs twice a month

Biweekly is every 14 days (26 pays/year). Semimonthly is twice a month on fixed dates (24 pays/year). The deposits are not the same size for the same annual salary. PayGuess can show weekly averages and salary paycheck amounts by frequency so you do not mix the two.

Hourly on a biweekly schedule

If you enter one week of hours, a simple biweekly projection is roughly that week × 2 — but only if both weeks look alike. Overtime is figured per workweek, not by averaging two weeks together. When weeks differ, enter each week separately or use a full-period gross override in the take-home section.

Salary paid biweekly

A common illustration is annual salary ÷ 26. Employers may also print a fixed paycheck amount. Part-year work, unpaid leave, or bonuses change what you actually receive.

Example

A $52,000 salary paid biweekly is about $2,000 gross per paycheck before taxes ($52,000 ÷ 26). An hourly worker at $25 × 40 hours each week with no overtime is about $2,000 gross for two identical weeks.

Taxes on biweekly stubs

Withholding is based on your W-4, payroll settings, and the taxable wages in that pay period. FICA (Social Security and Medicare) applies to wages up to annual limits. Benefits and garnishments also reduce net pay. Use a prior biweekly stub as a reference if you want a take-home illustration.

Frequently asked questions

How many biweekly paychecks are in a year?

Usually 26. Some years have 27 pay dates depending on the calendar and payday.

Is biweekly the same as semimonthly?

No. Biweekly is every two weeks; semimonthly is twice a month (often 24 pays per year).

How do I estimate biweekly gross from hourly pay?

Add the two weeks’ gross (with overtime figured per week), or use two identical weeks × 2 when your schedule is steady.

Will my biweekly take-home match this calculator?

Gross can be close; take-home depends on taxes and deductions. Compare with a recent stub.
