My weeks · save & compare

Optional. Saves the calculator above, not shift scenarios.

A midweek check isn’t saved automatically. Use only completed work for the period you’re checking; save your finished weekly totals when ready.

One entry per week ending and pay type; saving again updates it. Only weeks you explicitly save count. A saved $0 week counts; unsaved weeks never lower your average. Start date is your earliest saved week ending.

Calculate what you earned from completed work

For fixed-price work, multiply the pay per client/job by the number completed. For hourly clients, multiply the rate by worked client hours. Add entries at different prices, then subtract the materials, gas, fees and other costs you enter.

Earnings after entered costs = completed-work earnings − entered costs. The result is before taxes and does not confirm that a client has paid.

Example: eight jobs at $60 each

Completed work, before taxes
ItemAmount
8 × $60$480 earned
Materials$75
Gas and other entered costs$20
After $95 entered costs$385

Enter only the costs you want included in this earnings view. The tool does not determine whether an expense is tax-deductible or allocate every business cost for you. Missing costs can make the result look higher than what you keep.

What if clients pay by the hour?

Choose Client hour in Charge per. At $30/hour, 10 scheduled hours minus two canceled hours gives eight worked client hours and $240 earned before costs. Canceled hours cannot exceed scheduled hours.

Can I combine different job prices?

Yes. Add another entry for each price or hourly rate. For example, one $20 job, one $40 job and one $60 job total $120 before costs. You can combine fixed-price and hourly entries, up to 25 inputs.

Count preparation and unpaid time

Open What did you put into the work? to enter costs and time. If $385 after entered costs took 10 working hours plus two unpaid hours, the effective rate is about $32.08/hour across 12 hours. Unpaid time changes the effective hourly figure rather than pretending to be additional paid earnings.

What if my costs exceed my earnings?

The result shows a negative amount. That represents a loss after the costs entered; it is not a prediction of a tax refund. A chosen reserve percentage applies only to positive earnings.

How much should I reserve for taxes?

The optional tax section offers your own reserve percentage or a basic 2026 federal sole-proprietor illustration. The illustration asks for annual expectations and does not assume one unusual week repeats all year. Its exclusions include state/local taxes, credits, QBI, Additional Medicare Tax and other special rules. See the assumptions beside the result before relying on it.

Keep a weekly record or explore more work

You can save the week locally without creating an account. More pay. Less stress. illustrates one extra completed job at the highest entered job price, once a week for 52 weeks. That is before additional costs and taxes, not an offer. Indeed links open contract/freelance searches; they do not guarantee one-off work or a per-job price.
