Same paycheck, every state (2026)

One paycheck worked out with each state’s 2026 withholding rules: federal tax, Social Security and Medicare, state income tax and state payroll programs such as New Jersey disability and family leave. Where local taxes vary, the figure is a range from the lowest to the highest local tax PayGuess lists (Maryland and Indiana by county).

Paycheck: $1,000.00 gross, paid weekly, single, no pre-tax deductions.

est. = estimate: District of Columbia has published no withholding formula since 2018; Hawaii states its TDI cap per week only, so for other pay schedules it is converted at 52 weeks a year; with pre-tax deductions, states with an income or payroll tax are marked because how each treats them is not yet checked against an official 2026 example. Ranges sort by their lower figure. Excludes cost of living and residency or reciprocity rules, and any city or county tax not listed in the calculator.
